First, a photo is taken to see how the roots run and you receive anesthesia. Then the dentist places a rubber dam. This is a rubber sheet that isolates the tooth so the dentist has a 'clean' work area. The dentist drills open the tooth on the chewing surface and removes the infected tissue and nerve from the canal with files. The tooth is rinsed with disinfectant. The dentist fills the cleaned canals with rubber points and seals the tooth with a filling.
Often, the treatment is scheduled in 2 appointments. The filling of the canals and the filling of the tooth are done on the second appointment. The tooth receives a temporary filling after the first treatment.
