Restorative Dentistry involves restoring lost tissue to teeth, for example with direct restorations (such as making composite fillings) or indirect restorations (such as making porcelain veneers or crowns). If several teeth are lost, they can be replaced with an implant or also a removable device such as a frame or a plate. When all teeth are lost, dentures are made.
Direct restorations
Direct restorations are restorations that we manufacture on site in the mouth. Think of a filling. With a filling you prevent further pain to your teeth and you restore the function of the tooth
Indirect restorations
There are several indirect restorations that we can perform. Indirect actually means a restoration that is made outside the mouth. Think of inlay (computer-made filling, which is, as it were, ‘glued’ into the molar) onlay (computer-made filling, where one or more nodules on the molar are missing or must be replaced) facing (also called veneer, for front tooth embellishment (porcelain shield ) ), which is placed on the front tooth) or crown (if a molar has to be (almost) completely covered by porcelain).
If several teeth are lost, they can be replaced with an implant or a removable device such as a frame or a plate .
For the production of porcelain crowns and/or veneers (front teeth shields), we work closely with excellent dental laboratories. These specialists in the field of manufacturing crowns and veneers are closely involved in the entire process almost from the start of a treatment.
After preparing the tooth to be treated, an impression is made from which the crown and/or facing is then made by the dental technician.
The color of the crown or facing is determined in consultation with the client. After two to three weeks, the crown or facing will be ready and can be placed by us. In the meantime, we will help you with a temporary, plastic solution.
With veneers you have beautiful healthy and strong teeth and a natural, radiant smile. For the perfect facing, you have come to the right place with our specialists.
We work together with various dental laboratories. These are; Kesseler & Reuvekamp, Tandtechniek Pro & Sneeuwloper.
Anesthetic & rubber dam during treatment
Many people are afraid of a dental procedure. At Dental Practice Margarida Cardoso we understand that. We will try to put you at ease. In some situations, such as fillings, extractions or tooth extraction, anesthetic provides a good outcome. As a result, you will not experience any pain during a treatment.
We also use a rubber dam (cofferdam) for treatments that require anesthetic. This is a piece of cloth that is applied around the teeth so that it remains clean and dry and you can work neatly.
