The condition of the mouth is assessed during the periodic check-up. This involves looking at the teeth, gums and other mucous membranes in the mouth. X-rays are also regularly taken to gain a better understanding. A periodic check-up is intended to detect and possibly prevent possible problems in the mouth. If tartar is present, we can usually remove it immediately. Any instructions will be given on how to keep your mouth clean. If there are unexpected problems in the mouth that require more intensive treatment, we will make a follow-up appointment. In special cases we can also refer you to a dental hygienist or periodontist.
